Feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar from June 20 – 24, 2018
The self-organised feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar is taking place for the fourth time!
This year again, we are looking for people who want to participate in the programme of the seminar. Do you want to offer a workshop or something similar? Then get in touch with amalie.salecina [at] gmx.de
Salecina, a self-organised holiday and education center in the Swiss Engadin, has a long political tradition. With our feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar we establish a direct link with the 1970s, when women* met in Salecina to discuss their conditions of work and production as well as the sexisms they experienced.
In June 2018, Salecina will again be a meeting place for various feminisms and will offer space for an intensive exchange on feminist topics in theory and practice. During 5 seminar days, more than 70 women * will meet in various workshops to create a space for open discussions, in solidarity. Without entrenched conflicts, but still controversially.
This year, we chose a guiding topic: “DIALOGUE – feminisms: gender interlinked with other forms of oppression”
We welcome you to be part of the seminar! Do you have an idea? Send us a short text about the content, the required time, and the language in which you can hold your workshop. Please write us what language you prefer and all other languages that would be possible for you as well.
The seminar is organised by the participants themselves. We would like to have as many people as possible taking part in the seminar for the whole time. If this is not feasible for you, let us know about your options.
In the last years, the participants were between their mid-20s and their mid-80s. Most traveld from Germany, some from Switzerland and Italy. This year, we would like to expand this exchange between generations and across borders. We must admit that the participants were mostly white, academic German-speaking cis women in their 30s and 40. If one ore more of these categories do not apply in your case, we are even happier to receive your workshop proposal!
Costs: Accommodation and food (vegan/vegetarian) is between 40 and 66 CHF (ca 34-56 Euro) per night, depending on your financial capacities. People under 26 years pay 33 CHF (ca 28 Euro). Camping in your own tent costs 22 CHF (ca. 18 Euro) including food. It is possible for us to support you with the costs for accomodation or travel. We have acquired some funding specially for that purpose. Let us know! Money should be as small an obstacle as possible.
Accessibility: Unfortunately, Salecina is not wheelchair accessible. There is a number of staircases. In order to reduce these barriers to some extent, we can reserve a bed on the first floor, if required.
Childcare: We will organise childcare in Salecina if needed.
On the time frame: From now on, you have until January 31, 2018 to send us your workshop ideas and proposals. From early February onwards we will put together a programme. Then we will start publicising the programme and open registration to other participants.
