Dialog: different Feminism related to other power Structure

We are happy to announce that we have compiled a diverse programme for the feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar in Salecina and that you can register now.

You can do this via www.salecina.ch

The places are limited, this year 75 people will be able to take part in the feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar in Salecina.

When registering, it is important to let us know whether you are coming with children, whether you suffer from allergies or whether you need some kind of support. Please read the following information, check the programme so that you are informed what the space is going to be like and how we can shape it together.

Trans*openness, work in progress:

The seminar has the somewhat cumbersome title “feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar”. We are aware that this title is not 100% trans*open.

This is due to the reality that most participants in the past three years were white Cis-women, the large part probably from queer-feminist contexts. However, there are also some participants who have nothing to do with queer issues. The official consensus is that the seminar is open to all women, lesbians, trans* and inter*people who feel connected to feminist struggles. But we do not know whether everybody shares this opinion or is aware of this. Moreover, we do not know who will come this year and who will feel the programme relates tot hem.

In the past years, we had some discussions on what space to create. Most participants would be very happy if there were more trans* or non-binary people at the seminar. But there are also some for whom it is very important to speak in the generic feminine gender. And others who wil maybe have some questions in their head if a person comes to the seminar who passes as male. The seminar is attended by participants between 20 and more than 80 years of age, from rather different contexts. This inevitably results in some misunderstandings, confrontations and controversies. The prep team changes every year. This has big potentials and advantages but also disadvantages.

This year, it is the explicit consensus and wish of the prep team to make the seminar more accessible to trans*people and b/poc (Black/People of Colour). We hope for a constructive exchange and working together that respects the self-definition of every person. This is what we will stand in for at the seminar.

DIY (do it yourself)

The feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar in Salecina is a self-organised weekend. That means that all workshops will be held by the participants themselves, that everybody shares the housework which includes cleaning, cooking and other necessary tasks. In practice, this means that everybody has to take on a task every day, apart from the day you will hold a workshop. DIY also means for us that everybody is responsible for creating a space every participant can feel comfortable in. There will be a plenary every evening during which questions will be answered and organisational tasks will be distributed. The feminist_queerfeminist women* seminar in Salecina is made possible by the active contribution of all seminar participants.
